Graduate Student. Aspiring Technologist. Future Consultant.
Pursuing an MS in Information Systems & Operations Management at the University of Florida — and joining KPMG's Technology Advisory practice in Tampa this summer.
I'm Austin Smith, a graduate student at the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business, completing a Master of Science in Information Systems & Operations Management with a concentration in Supply Chain Management. I graduated from UF in December 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (Honors Program), a 3.97 GPA, and a minor in East Asian Languages & Literatures (Chinese) — and made the President's Honor Roll every semester I was enrolled.
This summer I'm joining KPMG in Tampa as a Technology Advisory Summer Associate — my first step into professional consulting and a role I've been working toward throughout my academic career. I'm excited to connect with the KPMG team and the broader Tampa business community.
Outside the classroom, I'm most at home with a group of friends — whether that's on a flag football field, a volleyball court, a soccer pitch, or a bowling lane. I've played pretty much every sport imaginable and I'm always up for a new one.
Nine years of Mandarin study and a month in Taiwan gave me a global lens on technology and business that I carry into every project I take on.
📍 From Coral Springs, Florida — heading to Tampa this summer for KPMG.
From Big Four technology advisory to Fortune-private enterprise IT and early-stage AI, building a well-rounded foundation across scales.
Joining KPMG's Technology Advisory practice in Tampa as an incoming Summer Associate. Eager to contribute to client engagements, build my consulting toolkit, and connect with the Tampa team. If you're from KPMG — reach out, I'd love to connect before I start.
Spent the summer inside one of Florida's largest private companies, partnering with IT Finance to automate reporting and free analyst bandwidth for higher-value work.

Worked directly with executive leadership at two early-stage AI startups — sitting in on weekly KSO meetings, daily check-ins, and investor pitch sessions. Gained firsthand exposure to startup operations, funding strategy, and the decisions that shape a company's first years.
Direqt has since been acquired and now operates as part of Redirect Ventures / Search.com.
Consulting for nonprofits, leading a fraternity's executive board, representing my graduate program — experiences that shaped how I approach teams and problems.
Pro bono consulting engagements for nonprofit organizations through UF's AIS chapter.
TEP alumni — I'd love to connect.
Representing UF's MS in Information Systems & Operations Management program to prospective students — fielding questions about coursework, career outcomes, and life in the Hough Graduate School.
Serving on the membership committee for the MS-ISOM program's student organization — planning social events and building community among graduate students in Information Systems.
UF-sponsored program, Summer 2024. Nearly a month across Taipei, Yilan, Taitung, Kaohsiung, and Tainan — studying Taiwan's technology culture, practicing nine years of Mandarin in the real world, and eating my way through every night market we passed.

What I expected to be a language capstone turned into the most formative experience of my academic career. We traveled the island with our tour guide Peter and Professor Yeh — hiking Shou Shan past Taiwanese Macaques, releasing sky lanterns at Shifen, learning calligraphy from university professors in Tainan, and riding out Typhoon Gaemi in Yilan.
For an Information Systems major, Taiwan is the place where semiconductors, STEM education, and the tallest skyscraper on Earth all live within the same culture. I designed an independent excursion around Taiwan's technology sector and came away believing the country punches far above its weight on the world tech stage.

Nine years of Mandarin from high school through a minor at UF — tested and tempered by a month navigating Taiwan's MRT, restaurants, and night markets on my own.
When I'm not studying supply chains or practicing Mandarin, you'll find me in a pickup game, trying a new restaurant, or planning the next trip.
Flag football, volleyball, soccer, dodgeball, basketball, bowling — if there's a group and a ball, I'm in.
Cooking at home and chasing new restaurants — a habit that got a lot stronger after a month eating through Taiwan.
Nine years of Mandarin, a UF minor in Chinese, and a study-abroad capstone that made every classroom hour worth it.
Proud UF Gator — bleeding orange and blue through undergrad and grad school.
Son of Mark Smith — serial entrepreneur in payments and AI — and Debbie Smith, CPA and CFO. Brother to Megan (USF Marketing, QuickRefund) and Aspen, our four-legged sister.
Whether you're a fellow Gator, a KPMG colleague, a TEP alum, or someone interested in connecting over technology, consulting, or supply chain — I'd love to hear from you.
